Words of a Sojourner
“I want the presence of God Himself, or I don’t want anything at all to do with religion… I want all that God has or I don’t want any.”
–A.W. Tozer
Why “Words of a Sojourner”?
“Words of a Sojourner” came to me after the Holy Spirit inspired me to write a poem titled Sojourners and Pilgrims. That was the genesis of my relationship to sojourning. From there, I’d find myself writing, but it was always to someone. There was a way in which my words seemed aimed toward a destination, as if a baseball pitched to a skilled batter. That’s when I realized that I wasn’t writing for people, and I wasn’t always writing for myself either. I was writing to God, in a sort of trans-dimensional, cry of my heart, pen-pal sort of fashion. That’s what usually got the ‘juices flowing’ quickest, if you will.
And so arose “Words of a Sojourner”. It became my tagline, a way of expressing that ever-present intricate longing and wondering toward Heaven’s Man, Jesus. It became the simple way for me to remind myself that I’m a wanderer in this world, and though I may cherish it here and care for it as my own, this world is not my home. Any wisdom you may find in my words is from a distant land, a land that I long for, and hope you will too as you read. And this land I will one day call home. Learn More
